How to play
If you can play a flappy game, you can play Ear Hop. Your ear does the rest.
Listen
When you pass a pipe, the next pipe plays its sound: two notes, an interval or one note alone.
Fly through the right gap
Each gap has a name. Tap to flap and fly through the gap that names the sound. The wrong gap ends the run.
Learn and try again
A wrong answer shows the right one. A run takes seconds, so you play one more, and your ear gets better every time.
Five games in one
One skill per game. Each game has its own best score and its own world leaderboard.
-
Notes
Is the second note higher or lower? Then middle C plays first, and you name the next note. It starts with big leaps and ends with all twelve notes.
-
Intervals
Two notes, one interval. Fly through the gap that names it: octave and fifth first, then every interval from a minor second to an octave.
-
Singing
A gate shuts each pipe. The game plays a note: sing it back and the gate opens. Any octave works, so low and high voices play the same game.
-
Perfect pitch
One note, no reference. Can you name it? The hardest game in Ear Hop, for players who want to test their absolute pitch.
-
Rhythm
The ear flies by itself and the music plays. Tap the notes in time to keep control. Miss too many and the ear goes down.
Why it works
Ear-training apps can feel like homework. Ear Hop feels like a game, and you learn while you play.
-
The screen teaches you
The gaps are in pitch order: higher sounds on top, lower sounds below. You see the shape of what you hear.
-
Starts easy, gets harder
The first pipes are easy for your ear, so you learn to fly first. Speed and new questions come slowly, pipe by pipe.
-
Medals
Bronze at 10, silver at 20, gold at 30, platinum at 40. Every new best score gets fireworks.
-
World leaderboard
Sign in with Apple or Google and put your best score on the world board of each game.
-
Your note names
C D E, Do Re Mi, German H, Japanese, Korean or numbers. Choose the note names you learned.
-
27 languages
Ear Hop speaks your language, from English and Spanish to Japanese, Arabic and Hindi.

Questions
Is Ear Hop free?
Yes. All five games are free to play. The game shows some ads between runs. Ear Hop Plus is one purchase, not a subscription: it removes the ads and gives you one free continue in every run.
Who is Ear Hop for?
For anyone who wants a better ear: music students, singers, choir members, musicians who want to warm up, and players who just like arcade games. You do not need to read music.
Do I need perfect pitch?
No. Notes and Intervals train relative pitch: you compare a sound with a reference, and everyone can learn that. Only the Perfect pitch game plays one note alone.
How does the Singing game hear me?
It uses the microphone while you play Singing. The sound is analyzed on your phone in real time to find the note. It is not recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
What do I get with Ear Hop Plus?
No ads, and one free continue in every run after a crash. You pay once and keep it. To get it on a new phone, tap Restore on the Ear Hop Plus screen.
How does the world leaderboard work?
Each game has its own board. Sign in with Apple or Google, choose a name, and your best score in each game goes on the board. Other players see your name and score.
Which phones does it run on?
iPhone and iPad from the App Store, and Android phones and tablets from Google Play.
